The World upright

In a yes or no tarot reading: Yes
Completion and fulfillment — things are coming full circle in your favor.
The World reversed
Something is left unfinished, or you can't quite feel the closure you were hoping for. A last step is still missing.
In a yes or no tarot reading: Leaning no
Close, but not quite there. One missing step still stands between you and the outcome.
See what The World says about your situation.
The World is the last card of the Major Arcana, and it feels like an ending done well. A figure dances inside a wreath, light on her feet, finished with one stage of life and ready for the next. It stands for completion, fulfilment and feeling whole.
It's the card for graduations, finished projects, milestones reached, and the quiet satisfaction of having seen something through.
What the World card shows
A dancing figure floats inside a large oval wreath of green leaves, tied at the top and bottom with red ribbons. She's wrapped loosely in a purple sash and holds a short white wand in each hand. The four corners hold the same faces that watched the Wheel of Fortune turn, with the angel and the eagle above, the bull and the lion below.
The creatures put their books down
On the Wheel of Fortune, those four creatures sit reading books while the wheel turns. On the World card, the books are gone. Readers often take that to mean the lesson has been learned. There's nothing left to study. They're just there.
It's a lovely detail if you think of the Major Arcana as a long story. Eleven cards earlier, everything was changing and the creatures were still learning. Now the cycle is complete.
The Hanged Man, the right way up
Look at the dancer's legs. One is crossed behind the other, the same shape the Hanged Man makes, but she's the right way up and moving. What was a stuck, upside-down pause earlier in the deck has become a dance.
And with her two wands she echoes the Magician too. Where he held one wand up to the sky, she holds two easily, one in each hand. The World is a card where everything earlier in the deck comes together.
The World upright: it's done, and done well
Upright, something meaningful is complete. A degree, a long project, a hard chapter, a goal you've worked toward for years. Take a moment to feel it. People often rush past their achievements to the next thing.
It can also point to travel and the wider world: a trip abroad, a move, a sense of your life opening up beyond where it's been.
The World reversed: almost, but not quite
Reversed, the last step is missing. A project that's 90 percent done and stalled. A chapter of life that should be over but somehow isn't. Closure you were hoping to feel and don't.
Look for the loose end. It's usually something small but uncomfortable: the final email, the last conversation, the box you haven't unpacked. Tie it off and the door opens.
The World in love
In love, the World points to a happy milestone. Moving in, getting engaged, marrying, or simply feeling settled and complete together. Single, you may find the card is about feeling whole on your own, which tends to be exactly when the right person turns up.
Reversed, something is unfinished. You stop just short of the next step, or an old relationship hasn't fully closed.
How they see you, through the World
They feel content with you. Upright, it suggests someone who feels at home in the relationship and sees a future with you. Reversed, they may feel something is still missing, or have unfinished business from the past.
The World in your career
At work, it's the finish line: a project delivered, a qualification earned, a goal reached. It can also point to international work, travel for your job, or a role with a wider reach. Celebrate, then think about the next big thing.
With money, it's a target achieved: a debt paid off, a savings goal hit. Reversed, there's one last step to take before you can call it done.
The World as advice
Finish it. Then mark it, with a dinner, a trip, a day off, a note to yourself. Endings deserve to be celebrated before the next beginning starts.
