Wheel of Fortune upright
Life's cycles are turning in your favor — change is coming, and it's bigger than any one choice you've made.
In a yes or no tarot reading: Yes
The cycle is turning in your favor. Timing and luck both lean your way.
Wheel of Fortune reversed
An unlucky turn or a cycle repeating itself feels out of your control. Resistance to change is making things harder.
In a yes or no tarot reading: No
The timing is against you — a pattern is repeating or luck has turned. This isn't the moment.
See what Wheel of Fortune says about your situation.
The Wheel of Fortune is the card of turning points. Things were one way and now they're shifting, sometimes in your favour, sometimes not, often for reasons that have nothing to do with anything you did.
It's a reminder that nothing stays still for long. The bad stretch won't last forever. Neither will the good one.
What the Wheel of Fortune card shows
A large orange wheel floats in a cloudy sky. On its rim are the letters T, A, R and O, mixed with four Hebrew letters, and its spokes carry small alchemical symbols. A blue sphinx holding a sword sits on top. A yellow snake slides down the left side, and a red jackal-headed figure, often read as the Egyptian god Anubis, rises on the right.
In each corner sits a winged creature: an angel, an eagle, a bull and a lion. All four are calmly reading books while the wheel turns. They're traditionally linked to the four fixed signs of the zodiac and to the four Gospel writers. Whatever you make of that, notice their attitude. The wheel is spinning, and they're reading.
TARO, ROTA, TORA
Read the letters on the wheel clockwise from the top and you get TARO. Start from the R and you get ROTA, Latin for wheel. Read them the other way round from the top and you get TORA, the word on the High Priestess's scroll. The designers liked hiding wordplay like this. Here it makes a neat point: the deck itself is a wheel, and the same letters can say different things depending on where you start.
The Wheel upright: things are turning your way
Upright, the turn is a good one. A lucky break, an unexpected offer, a chance meeting, timing that suddenly works. It often appears after a hard stretch, as a sign that things are starting to move again.
Use it. Luck favours people who are ready when the door opens. If something good is coming toward you, say yes and move with it rather than waiting to be sure.
The Wheel reversed: a bad turn, or the same loop again
Reversed, the wheel has turned against you for now. Plans fall through, timing goes wrong, things happen that you couldn't have prevented. That's frustrating, and the card doesn't pretend otherwise.
It also points to repeating cycles. The same kind of relationship ending the same way. The same money problem every few months. If you keep landing in the same place, the reversed wheel wants you to notice what you're bringing to it each time.
Luck, and the part you can control
People sometimes read this card as fate, as if nothing you do matters. That's not quite it. You don't control the wheel. You do control how you ride it: how prepared you are when good things come, and how you carry yourself when they don't.
The four creatures in the corners are the best model. The wheel turns. They keep reading.
The Wheel of Fortune in love
For someone single, it often means a chance meeting, the kind that happens at a friend's party you nearly skipped. For couples, it points to a new phase: moving in, moving on to the next stage, or a shift that changes the relationship's rhythm.
Reversed, look for patterns. Are you dating the same type, having the same fight, or leaving at the same point every time? The cycle will keep turning until something about it changes.
Their feelings on the Wheel
Their feelings are shifting, and probably toward you if the card is upright. Something has changed in how they see you. Reversed, they may be hot and cold, or caught in an old pattern of their own that has little to do with you.
Career and money on the Wheel
At work, change is coming, often from outside: a restructure, a new manager, an opportunity you didn't apply for. Upright, it tends to work in your favour. Stay flexible and be ready to say yes.
With money, it's a reminder that good and bad stretches come and go. Upright, enjoy the up and save some of it. Reversed, ride out the dip and don't make big decisions in a panic.
The Wheel of Fortune as advice
Stay ready and stay loose. When luck shows up, act on it. When it doesn't, don't take it personally. Everything on this wheel comes back around.
